ProGlide is another of XUREX’s leading Nano-coatings. One Hundred Percent slicker than Teflon®, ProGlide has a friction coefficient of 0.005, compared to Teflon® which has a coefficient of friction of 0.01. ProGlide is formulated with a number of highly superior properties. ProGlide is slated for future production.
Its unique properties suggest it is extremely well suited to the Marine and fluid delivery systems applications, as well as low-friction factory applications such as chutes and slides.
- ProGlide™ is totally inert, sharing many of the same properties as other XureX Nano-Technology Coatings. A major use is application to military and commercial steel ship hulls and steel, aluminum or fiberglass [underwater] boat hulls, making them non-susceptible to permanent adhesion of marine fouling organisms such as barnacles, sea-grasses and the like. Due to the self-sacrificing (self-ablative) mode of operation, or “shedding” itself into the water, typical marine hull antifouling coatings are notorious for releasing environmental and health-compromising “anti-foulant” toxins/poisons into the water during routine underwater hull cleaning.
- ProGlide™ contains NO Toxins or Poisons.
- ProGlide™ does not harm water quality or the environment.
As with XUREX’s other Nano-coatings ProGlide bonds with the free ions in the material itself and so becomes one with the material. As such it is not compromised by bumps and scratches to the material and so provides much longer lasting protection and performance enhancement.
Product Properties:
- Totally inert
- Low VOC emissions range from 120- 275 grams per liter (Volatile Organic Compounds)
- VC ranges from 37 grams per liter to 270 per liter depending on formulation specifications
- Maximum UV resistance
- Waterproof, including salt water
- Environmentally safe; no poisons are emitted into water
- High adhesion to all common hull substrates
- Treated ship, yacht and boat underwater hulls are resistant to marine and freshwater organism fouling
- Improves performance and reduces energy costs to propel treated boat hulls through water by reducing drag
In Marine application tests it has been shown to be:
- Resistant to marine and freshwater organism fouling; ideal protection for underwater hulls
- Reduces energy costs to propel all boat hulls through the water
- Environmentally safe, especially compared to the copper and zinc ablative products.
- Lowers maintenance costs for marine craft.
Tow tank tests have shown reduction of water resistance and decreased coefficient of friction on test plates. Depending on water velocity, results ranged from 5-12% reduction of resistance which directly correlates to a decrease in fuel consumption.Additional applications include internal pipe coating for petroleum and water transmission provides protection and enhanced transmission speeds
